Fundraising Activities:

Masquerade Ball (21/02/09)

BY LAURA KELLY

The ball was held at Bolton Albert Halls in the "Festival Suite" - which was a superb venue for a masquerade ball, with pillars and decorated ceiling etc.

The ball went really well. About 80 people turned up, all in ball gowns and suits. They all looked really good. Some people had made their masks, and some had bought their own - but they were all stunning!!! It took a lot of organising, what with two bands, the food, the cakes, the raffle and prizes for games, and of course the tickets!

We had "The Bandits", who were a jazz/swing group of 17 year olds, and "The Virginians", a Scottish folk band. We played games including "roll the pound coin to the prize", and “heads and tails” where you all stand up and put your hands on your head or bum, a coin is flipped and if heads comes up people with their hands on their bum are out! We had a raffle with prizes such as football tickets, meal for two from 2 local restaurants, a double duvet, some very nice jewellery and a full neck and facial massage - all donated kindly by supporters and local businesses.

The town hall supplied the buffet and bar, and we brought along two cakes decorated for the occasion. We made a total of about £350.

Try Dive (26/10/08)

In support of the South Africa Mission Project 2009 one of our supporters, Darren Morgan, kindly offered his time to give people the opportunity to try SCUBA Diving whilst raising funds for the group at Ramada Hotel in Blackrod.

Trainees were provided with a lesson with a qualified instructor including poolside tuition on safety, diving technique and equipment, followed by scuba diving in the pool. They were also given the opportunity to find out more about how to carry on learning to dive.

Two local diving companies Hydrapro and Divelife kindly supported the project.

Darren is a freelance outdoor persuits instructor and you can view his website at http://www.darrenmorgan.co.uk

60's Night (02/08/08)

Having played for the likes of Nelson Mandela, Stereophonics and Manchester United, one of the leading tribute bands, The Cheatles, were the star attraction of our fundraising night at Ramada Hotel, Blackrod.

People of all ages joined in on the fun at the four star hotel enjoying live entertainment, a buffet and a disco, many dressing in the 60's style. Fundraising activities such as face art and a raffle were happening throughout the night.

All raffle prizes were donated by local company's such as Sweetens book shop and The Hair and Beauty Spa. We also had signed memorabilia from the Heartbeat cast and Dave Spikey.

The youth raised £266.73 on the night which was put towards the South Africa Mission Project 2009.

The West Highland Way (24/07/08 - 31/07/08)
Here at H.A.F.W.A.Y. we most certainly don’t do things in moderation; several members of our youth group traveled to Scotland to tackle the West Highland Way on a 95 mile walk having gained sponsorship.
Canopy Sale
The youth's vast collection of old films, toys and clothes helped us to raise a significant amount at the canopy sale in Bolton Town Centre.
Quiz Night
St Thomas's Primary School in Halliwell let us use their building to host a quiz night. H.A.F.W.A.Y. served Carrs Pasties, hosted the quiz and a raffle, and auctioned themselves off to do odd jobs for their supporters during the evening.
Car Wash

Washing cars for the locals, we were able to raise yet more funds for the South Africa mission trip.

Sunday Lunch

The youth waited on the congregation of St Paul's Church after the Sunday service one morning.
